Ameland Lighthouse Trail
Every year in early spring, Ameland becomes the setting for one of the most beautiful trail runs in the Netherlands: the Lighthouse Trail. It is both a sporting challenge and a nature experience, with routes through the dunes, the beach, the forest and the paths around Hollum.
The Lighthouse Trail is popular among runners and walkers who love nature. Some of the routes pass through protected nature reserves, so participants are asked to stay on the paths and not leave any litter behind.
A suitable distance for every level
Whether you are just starting out or have been running for years, there is a distance for everyone. The distances vary from 5, 10, 18, 23, 35 to even 60 kilometres. There is also a special programme with adjusted distances for children and runners with dogs.
In addition, on the Friday before the run, there is a 12 or 18 kilometre walking tour. This allows everyone to enjoy Ameland's nature in their own way.
