Adventure Run Ameland
Every December, Ameland is the setting for the Adventure Run – an atmospheric and athletic running event through woods, dunes and across the beach. The routes start and end in the charming village of Nes and take you right through nature. For many runners, participating is the perfect way to end the year on a sporty note.
The Adventure Run is suitable for both avid and recreational runners, as well as children. What's more, there is plenty of winter fun around the event, with music, hot drinks and a festive atmosphere.
A suitable distance for every level
The Ameland Adventure Run offers a choice of four distances:
- 21 km – half marathon for experienced runners
- 10 km – for recreational athletes
- 5 km – for beginner runners
- 1–2 km Kids Run – for children aged 4 and up
The route runs through forests, over shell paths, dunes and sometimes even the beach — a unique mix of nature and sporting experience.
Winter atmosphere & conviviality
The Adventure Run takes place during Advent and has a warm, festive atmosphere. On the day before the run (12 December), there is a convivial opening reception. On the day of the race itself, music, food trucks and winter delicacies create a convivial atmosphere in the village. Afterwards, you can warm up with a hot drink or enjoy the afterparty.
